Fishermen who reside in Chorrillos are dedicated to artisanal fishing. They travel within 5 miles of their home beach to find local fish such as corvina and ocean delicacies like octopus and sea urchins.
Artisanal fishing, a tradition practiced for generations in Chorrillos, is not just a way of life but also a protected practice, safeguarded by the government. However, in recent years, it has faced increasing challenges.
The absence of new fish spawns and the practice of larger fishing boats have led to a concerning situation.
With their capacity to harvest all available fish, these boats leave nothing for the future.

It is a perfect opportunity for those who wish to escape the city life’s bustle.
I could buy freshly caught fish at a great price at the pier from the fishing terminal.
The fishermen offer a wide range of seafood, much more affordable than at your local supermarket.
On a typical day, this wharf offers various seafood options. I saw numerous fish, scallops, and crabs available, sparking my curiosity and appetite.
The fisherman will clean the fish and bring fresh catches from the sea several times daily, ensuring you get the freshest seafood possible.
You can be confident in the quality of your purchase.
The beach of Agua Dulce
Being the most popular destination in Chorrillos, Agua Dulce is quite busy during the summertime. On weekends, up to 40,000 visitors are on the beach at once.
Local families and visitors from various parts of the Peruvian mountains create a diverse and vibrant crowd at Agua Dulce.
This beach is ripe with warm sand and pleasant waves. The green flag signals a safe, enjoyable space for swimming, surfing, or leisurely floating in calm waters.
However, jellyfish can sometimes be a problem. If you go during jellyfish season, look out where you are swimming. To avoid jellyfish encounters, it’s best to [swim in areas with lifeguards, wear protective clothing, and avoid swimming during peak jellyfish hours].
